Paint paint and more paint

I spent yesterday arvo on a few things, starting with my scar painting. I tried to put more colour on the scar/gruesome cut thing by rubbing it over with a cloth. Unfortunately part of the moulding paste was still wet. Looks kinda cool tho! I put impasto over the whole board to give it a little bit of texture. The idea with this painting is that the skin is so nice and pretty, but then it has this horrible mark that will be there forever as a reminder for past mistakes.

I also experimented with scratching into paint to create an image. So I used this large board nearly as tall as me and a little bit wider. I used black and red as background to create a dark theme, then once it was dry I got a sharp knife and went nuts stabbing/cutting it up to make lines that form a rough human shape. I put lots of energy and big strokes of the knife. I couldn't get much control with the technique but looks pretty cool. My plan now is to make the background more red, then actually paint the human figure there, but still very rough and with aggressive strokes, and a black outline. Then I might use the knife again over the top.

Here's some pics of what I've been talking about (the iPhone ap puts them in a random order, so don't pay attention to it!!) :)

Tessa.
